Roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of the Texan
reenactors to take the field on 21 April 2007 are Masons.
In the Mexican camp, Masons accounted for about 1/4 of the men. As Masons,
we proudly remember that Brother Anson Jones, first Grand Master of the
Grand Lodge
of the Republic of Texas, did participate in the Battle of San Jacinto
and carried
the charter for Holland Lodge through the fray in his saddlebags.
