PGM Leonard P. Harvey - What I enjoy most about Masonry

Here again, to put into words my real enjoyment of Masonry is a tough assignment. We often quote that “You get out of Masonry what you put into it”. Such might be true is some respects, but it fails to amply describe the real fact which, to me is simply “You put into Masonry what you get out of it”. Or, more specifically, our duty is to pass along our Masonry to those who follow in our footsteps. It is simple logic that to receive something and retain it unto yourself does little for those around you.

PGM Leonard P. Harvey - What Masonry has done for me

It would take volumes for me to describe what Masonry has really done for me. I know it has contributed greatly to my understanding and appreciation of humankind. My Masonic experience has provided the venue by which to gain a better understanding of men who come from just about every station in life. I have learned to appreciate and respect other men based upon their  ethnic  or national origin; their choice of worship experiences or their political persuasions.

PGM Leonard P. Harvey - What I do in Masonry

From the beginning of my Masonic experience until this very day, I have always held the firm belief that very system of Freemasonry is such as to make it incumbent upon every Mason to first learn all he can about our fraternity and then pass his knowledge  along to those who follow him. We teach that the lessons of Masonry are passed along from one generation to the next, but reality is that we find weak or broken links in the chain of reality.

PGM Leonard P. Harvey - What Masonry means to me

What does Masonry mean to me? It might readily be described as ‘Masonry means the world to me’, but that encompasses a rather broad statement without a definitive answer.

PGM Leonard P. Harvey - Why I joined

My formative years were spent at Buckner Orphan’s Home near Dallas, and R.C. Buckner Lodge No. 1176 met on campus during my stay at Buckner Home. R.C. Buckner Lodge was named after Dr. Robert Cooke Buckner, an ordained Baptist Minister who founded the orphanage to care for orphaned children following the devastating hurricane which struck Galveston Island in 1900.
