What Masonry has done for me

PGM Leonard P. Harvey - What Masonry has done for me

It would take volumes for me to describe what Masonry has really done for me. I know it has contributed greatly to my understanding and appreciation of humankind. My Masonic experience has provided the venue by which to gain a better understanding of men who come from just about every station in life. I have learned to appreciate and respect other men based upon their  ethnic  or national origin; their choice of worship experiences or their political persuasions.

Masonry has and still does give me many opportunities to learn leadership, but the other half of the coin is, you must learn to be lead. In our daily lives we work for the purpose of money, that’s our goal, but with freemasonry you learn to work for a higher goal. Be that a Brother, Lodge, or one of the many charities we support and the only paycheck is a better you and good friends.

Sam Whitley - What Masonry has done for me

What has Masonry given me? A sense of purpose, a goal to meet, a legacy of service. A means to serve my fellow man. It has given me opportunity to speak up for the honor of the Fraternity in the face of those who, through ignorance, malign it. It has given me dear and true friends... some that I haven't even met yet.

Masonry has made a much better man, by giving me a venue to be of service to others and by allowing me to associate with some of the best men in my community.

What Masonry has done for me will be less today than it will be tomorrow. Words could not fully describe what all Masonry has done for me as it has been the catalyst for monumental change in my life.
