What I enjoy most about Masonry

What I enjoy most about Masonry

By far, the thing I enjoy most is the fellowship of my brethren, and the knowledge that they are men who can be trusted and relied upon.

I enjoy knowing  that I can go to any community anywhere in the world and even if I have never been to that community before, I will already have friends there: brother Masons.

PGM Leonard P. Harvey - What I enjoy most about Masonry

Here again, to put into words my real enjoyment of Masonry is a tough assignment. We often quote that “You get out of Masonry what you put into it”. Such might be true is some respects, but it fails to amply describe the real fact which, to me is simply “You put into Masonry what you get out of it”. Or, more specifically, our duty is to pass along our Masonry to those who follow in our footsteps. It is simple logic that to receive something and retain it unto yourself does little for those around you.

Two words “My Brothers” from the stern to the crazy and from the active to the lazy, I love them all.

The opportunity to give something back to the world to make it a better place than I found it. And the good people. And the humbling feeling you get when you know that someone submitted a petition for the Mysteries because of something they saw in you.

I enjoy almost everything about masonry. The feeling of belonging to a group of good men, and enjoying their company, learning how to overcome obstacles, and listening to the opinions of brothers from such a widespread and varying array of backgrounds.

Being with men of different beliefs, social standing, educational and professional levels. All meeting at the same level in the Lodge.

Easily, the fellowship of like minded men.

That is like asking "what do you enjoy most about living" !!   Once you learn to see the world in a "Masonic light", you come to realize the truths that apply to everything, and it is very hard to go back to the old ways.  It is not a drastic change, but it is a change, none the less.  It is said that Masonry "makes a good man better"  ... maybe this is the change.
